MINISTRIES

"For we are God's W O R K M A N S H I P,
created in Christ Jesus to do good works,
which God prepared in advance for us to do"
.
-- Ephesians 2:10

Our church family is involved in various church ministries, many are described below. Please feel free to join us in contributing your skills and knowledge to any of our ministries. We send our mission donations/offerings the last Sunday of each quarter:

  4th Quarter MISSIONS
December 31 -- A special offering will be collected during the morning worship hour..

~ I.D.E.S. -- Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund" ~~ The mission of the International Disaster Emergency Service (I.D.E.S.) is to serve as a channel through which Christian Churches and Church of Christ, and individual Christians can meet the physical and spiritual needs of suffering victims of Hurricane Katrina.

FLOWER Ministry ~~ "Providing warmth through caring"

Our flower ministry sends flowers to our loved ones who are our shut-ins and unable to get out. This ministry is provided by volunteers within our church family.

PROJECT LINUS Ministry ~~ "Providing Security through Blankets" ... so named after the adorable security blanket-toting character from the Peanuts comic strip. Creator Charles Schultz was aware of our efforts and delighted to have Linus inspire blanket makers (aka blanketeers) to help comfort children in need.

Project Linus is a 100% volunteer non-profit organization with a two-fold mission.

  • First, it is our mission to provide love a sinse of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afgans, lovingly created by volunteer "blanketeers".
  • Second, it is out mission to provide a rewarding and fun service opportunity for interested individuals and groups in local communities, for the benetfit of children.

"The best kind of sleep under heaven above, is under a blanket
handmade with love"

"Be a Blanketeer"

Anyone, any age, can help these children. It's within your power to make a difference. --- Christmas Eve 1995, an article appeared in Parade Magazine entitled, "Joy to the World" by Pulitzer Prize Winning photo-jorunalist, Eddie Adams. Part of the article features a petite downy-haired child. She has been going through intensive chemotherapy and states that her security blanket has helped her get throught treatments. Karen Loucks decided to provide homemade security blankets to Denver's Rocky Mountain Children's Cancer Center ----- thus PROJECT LINUS was born.

November 2002 -- Nearly 300 chapters of Project Linus exist with more than 550,000 blankets delivered worldwide. Project Linus is a 100% volunteer non-profit organization.

It's easy to help Project Linus. Simply make a blanket and donate it to your local chapter of Project Linus. Your blanket will be given to a child in need.

Our volunteers, known as "blanketeers", provide new, handmade, washable blankets to be given as gifts to seriously ill and traumatized children, ages 0-18. -- FMI: contact JoAnne Kiger throught the church phone at 724-627-5355.

GRUNDY MT. MISSION Ministry (MMS) ~~ It is estimated that over 20,000 children have received care at MMS since its founding in 1921. Read more about the Things Individuals and Groups Can Do To Help.

Transportation Ministry ~~ "Providing assistance in transporting our members who are unable to get out on their on; to come to our church services and other special activities."

"A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed."   Proverbs 11:25 ~~
